Drawing is the foundation of all visual arts. Watercolor, pastel, oil paint, acrylic — no matter the technique you use, a solid foundation in drawing directly affects the quality of your work. This 6-week basic drawing course is carefully designed to equip art enthusiasts starting from scratch with fundamental drawing skills. In the course, you will first get to know the world of pencils, learning how to use hard and soft graphite pencils, various types of charcoal, and support materials. Then we will step into the basic building blocks of drawing: basic form and ellipse studies, proportion and measurement, light and shadow theory and practice, one-point and two-point perspective. Each week you will reinforce what you have learned with hands-on exercises. You will explore form, shadow, and texture with simple still-life compositions, and grasp perspective and a sense of space with architectural drawing exercises. We will work step-by-step on natural forms — fruits, leaves, simple objects — both in terms of drawing and shading. In the sixth week of the course, you will combine all the knowledge you have learned and create a simple landscape drawing. A cabin, water reflections, trees, and the sky — you will bring your knowledge of perspective, light and shadow, and texture to life in a single composition. This basic drawing course is designed for adults with no prior drawing experience. By the end of the course, you will be able to draw basic landscapes and still lifes in charcoal. Those who complete the course can continue to our Level 2 drawing course, or those who wish can add color to their drawing journey with colored pencils. Due to high demand, this course is only offered once a year. We will work in small groups, in a live lesson format, and with personalized feedback. We start in September 2026. There's no better way to start art with a solid foundation than drawing. Let's step into the world of charcoal together.
