Watercolor Level 2: Landscape Studies November 2026

Watercolor Level 2: Landscape Studies November 2026
You've started with watercolors, learned the basics, and done some simple work. Now it's time for an exciting step towards landscape painting. In this 6-week Level 2 live course, we'll enter the world of landscape watercolor together. Starting in November 2026, we'll explore the magical atmosphere of autumn and winter nature. We'll work with subjects that capture the spirit of the season, such as autumn forests, wood huts with smoking chimneys, orange-yellow leaf colors, pine trees, and atmospheric gray skies. You'll learn composition, atmospheric perspective, light and shadow, and wet-wet techniques through practice. Topics we will cover in this course: Landscape composition and framing — you will learn how to construct a landscape scene and the balance between foreground, middleground, and background. Atmospheric perspective and depth — using color fading, detail reduction, and atmospheric tones to create a sense of distance. Autumn color palette — the harmony of orange, yellow, brown, and earth tones, techniques for capturing tree leaves in a vibrant yet natural way. Nature details — pine trees, branches, trunk textures, cottage architecture, and brush techniques for organic textures. Wet-wet atmosphere — soft sky transitions, haze effect, atmospheric appearance of smoke, and organic softness. Emotion in composition — adding "warmth" and "life" to a landscape: light from a cottage window, smoke from a chimney, seasonal atmosphere. In this course, we will use St. Petersburg White Nights or Schmincke watercolors and professional papers such as Arches. You can also easily participate with your own high-quality watercolor set. A detailed materials list will be shared after registration. This course is designed for students who have completed the beginner level or are proficient in basic watercolor techniques. Those who complete the course will be able to participate in our advanced workshops and Color Therapy group. Let's step into the colors of autumn together in November 2026.
